Two microphones, stereo channels and backup files are different

Plan editable dialogue and verify where the audio is actually recorded.

Count sources separately from channels

Two transmitters can feed a receiver while its output is still mixed. If you need to adjust each speaker in editing, configure the receiver’s routing and confirm what the camera saves. A stereo file can carry two separate mono sources, but it can also contain a duplicated or mixed signal.

Make an unambiguous channel test

Record microphone one alone, microphone two alone and both together. State the microphone number before each section. Export the camera file and inspect or listen to each channel independently in your editor. Do not rely only on two moving meters on the receiver.

Save a brief note of the receiver and camera settings next to the test clip. Repeat after a firmware change or when you change the connection route.

Verify the backup itself

An internal microphone recording is a separate file, not an automatic property of the camera video. Check available storage, the recording indicator and the actual saved file. Direct wireless modes can have different feature behavior from receiver modes.

For a long recording, also verify that the files cover the whole take and that you have a synchronization method. A short hand clap and a spoken take identifier can make a manual alignment check easier.
